Moments Matter: Why the Little Things Count This Loneliness Awareness Week

by Little BIG

At Little BIG, we believe the little things make a big difference.

A chance encounter. Someone remembering your name. A neighbour inviting you in. These small moments don’t always look like much on the surface but they’re the spark of something bigger. They say, you matter here.

That’s why we’re proud to support Loneliness Awareness Week 2025 (4–10 August), led by Ending Loneliness Together, with this year’s theme: #MomentsMatter.

The campaign is a powerful reminder that connection doesn’t always start with deep conversation or a big flashy event. Often, it begins with something simple, a shared laugh, a kind gesture, a moment of being seen.

At the Little BIG House, we see these kinds of moments every day. In fact, they are our namesake and founding story. These are Little BIG moments—the seemingly small interactions that quietly build belonging, trust and community. You can watch the video here:

This week, we’re joining others across the country to shine a light on the importance of everyday connection, especially for young people aged 16–25 who are increasingly feeling the weight of loneliness.

So how can you make a moment matter?

  • Invite someone to join you for lunch or a walk on your break
  • Linger after school pick-up for some community banter
  • Attend a local event (maybe at the Little BIG House) and say hi to someone new
  • Share your own “Little BIG moment” on social media using #MomentsMatter

Let’s make more moments that matter this week—and beyond. Because at Little BIG, we know the smallest things often have the biggest impact.
