Meet Sarah, 2026 Leadership Committee Chair

"It's so much more than a venue that hosts events — it's a place that creates connection, sparks confidence and, in many cases, genuinely changes lives." - Sarah on the Little BIG House

My name is…

Sarah Ferraina — and you might know me from the Little BIG House. I've been part of the community since 2022, beginning my journey by running small business marketing events. Since then I've contributed in many different ways — from creating the volunteer and host event guides to being part of the Leadership Committee across 2025 and 2026. I'm also a proud Summer Hill local, so you'll often find me walking the streets of the neighbourhood or doing the school run.

By day (or night), I…

Run my own small business marketing firm, supporting business owners with their marketing while mentoring emerging marketing professionals. By night, I switch into mum mode — sporting commitments, family life and supporting my three kids in their different passions, personalities and pursuits.

How I first stumbled into the Little BIG House…

Through a fellow host who had been running events there since 2021. I was looking for a warm, welcoming in-person space to offer free marketing education to local small business owners — a group I've always felt are often underserved. The Little BIG House was actively looking for events that would bring value to the local community. So I reached out… and that's where it all began.

The thing that made me stay…

There's something about this community that becomes infectious once you step inside it. I've met people I never would have crossed paths with in my normal day-to-day life. Coming out of the COVID years, that connection felt more important than ever — and it became very clear once I became involved here.

My involvement with the Little BIG House over the years…

Has evolved in many ways — from running free marketing events for small business owners, to supporting behind the scenes through volunteer and host resources, to becoming part of the Leadership Committee. Incredibly rewarding at every stage.

A moment or place in Summer Hill that has stuck with me…

It isn't just one specific thing — it's all the little moments from becoming more involved in my backyard. Bumping into someone on the street, stopping for a quick chat, celebrating their wins. What's been even more special is seeing the impact on my own kids, who are now eager to be part of their community too.

If I had to describe Summer Hill to someone who'd never been…

Vibrant, warm, welcoming and full of personality. There's something here for everyone, regardless of age or stage of life. But more than anything, Summer Hill feels homely. There's just a feeling here that's hard to describe until you experience it for yourself.

Something I wish more people knew about the Little BIG House…

Simply that it exists — and just how much it has to offer. What feels almost embarrassing now is that I lived in Summer Hill for years without knowing it was here. Once you step in, you quickly realise it's a place that creates connection, sparks confidence and, in many cases, genuinely changes lives.

This community is special to me because…

Of the connection it creates. It's the small moments, quick chats, shared wins and familiar faces that make this place feel like home. I also love seeing the impact community involvement has had on my own kids, who are learning the value of connection and contribution through being part of it all.

My favourite thing about the Little BIG House…

That it creates genuine connection. It's so much more than a venue that hosts events — it's a place where people feel welcomed, supported and inspired to try new things, meet new people and become part of something bigger than themselves.

I decided to put my hand up for the Leadership Committee because…

After being part of the committee in 2025, there was really no question about continuing. It was incredibly rewarding — working alongside passionate people, building relationships and seeing the positive impact we created together. I also felt I still had more to contribute, particularly in helping provide continuity and supporting new committee members.

The skill or perspective I'm hoping to bring…

In the role of Chair, helping uphold the mission while cultivating a warm, positive and supportive culture. I strongly believe the way we show up and support one another internally naturally radiates outward into the broader community.

The thing I'm most looking forward to tackling together…

Seeing how the strategic foundations built in 2025 continue to evolve throughout 2026 — and how that approach allows us to support even more areas of need within the community.

You'll most likely find me on a weekend…

At my son's soccer games or spending time with family and friends. Ideally, Sundays involve being out locally — grabbing breakfast, wandering through the Summer Hill markets, or letting the kids run wild while we slow down and enjoy being present.

I'm most grateful for…

Everyday life. Being able to kiss my kids goodnight and good morning, knowing my family is safe and secure, and being surrounded by people who share strong values and keep me grounded in what truly matters.

The Little BIG House in one word…

Connection.
