Weāre beyond excited to share some BIG newsāLittle BIG Foundation has an in-principle agreement to bring a Little BIG House to the proposed North Rocks development!
This marks a significant step forward in our mission to combat loneliness and foster meaningful connections in communities across Australia. With the success of Little BIG House in Summer Hill, weāve seen firsthand how a thoughtfully curated space can transform a neighborhood, strengthen social ties, and create a true sense of belonging.
The future development site in North Rocks presents an incredible opportunity to embed community connection from the very beginning. We are excited to be invited by EG, who are currently working on a master plan proposal and the Paramatta Council who have toured our Summer Hill site and would love to see something similar in their community. For existing residents, a Little BIG House will offer a space to engage with their evolving neighborhood, to shape its character before the first brick is laid. For newcomers, it will provide an instant, welcoming communityāhelping people navigate the often-overlooked challenges of settling into a new home.
Our experience at the Flour Mill in Summer Hill has shown that fostering social connection isnāt just a feel-good initiativeāit has real, measurable impacts. With social isolation costing Australia an estimated $2.7 billion annually, we know that creating vibrant, well-connected communities isnāt just valuableāitās essential.
Much like our Summer Hill flagship, the North Rocks Little BIG House will be a community-led space, tailored to the needs and interests of the people who live there. It wonāt be a cookie-cutter solution but a place shaped by and for the local community.
Weāll be:
š¹ Connecting with existing local groupsāsuch as Rotary Markets and the Senior Citizens Associationāto complement and enhance their work.
š¹ Offering diverse programsāfrom social clubs to wellness classes, skill-sharing workshops to cultural celebrations.
š¹ Removing barriers to participationāmaking it easy for anyone to get involved, whether thatās starting a book club, running a yoga class, or simply dropping in for a cup of tea.
And, as always, weāll be measuring our impactāproviding data and case studies to help the local Council and stakeholders understand the social and economic benefits of a connected community.
While weāre thrilled to have this in-principle agreement, thereās still work to be done to bring this vision to life. Over the coming months, weāll be engaging with the North Rocks community, listening to local voices, and co-designing a space that truly reflects what this neighborhood needs. We won’t be opening any doors until we have the funding secured for the high-quality fit-out that we have come to be known for.
If youāre a North Rocks local or community group, weād love to hear from you! We are taking expressions of interest from people interested in helping us plan the venue, those interested in accessing the space to run their events. You can email fill in our EOI here.
Together, letās build something special.
