If you’re local and have an idea that brings people together or enriches the community, this is the place to make it happen—whether it’s a book club, kombucha tasting, or debate workshop!
Shared activities help foster connection and combat loneliness, and our affordable rates ensure accessibility for all. Plus, we’ll help spread the word locally and offer training throughout the year to support your journey as a Little BIG Host.
SUBMIT YOUR IDEAMission Alignment – Our goal is to reduce loneliness and build community. Your event should focus on helping participants form bonds and make friends. Be clear in your application about how you’ll achieve this.
Capacity – 50 people per floor, but under 20 is ideal for connection.
Facilities – Heritage-listed quirks: no elevator to upstairs spaces, no oven or hot water in the kitchen.
Other Events – You’ll have one floor, so some noise from other events is expected.
Frequency – Events must run at least four times a year (ideally more). No one-offs.
Uniqueness – We avoid duplicate events to keep offerings diverse and inclusive.
Our fees are significantly below market rate and we are really proud of that! We want to keep them as low as possible to keep the event cost as low as possible for all participants. As such, getting a slot in the LBH is hotly contested.
Events charging under $20/hour to participants: $5/hour to rent the space.
Events charging $20/hour or more to participants: $30/hour to rent the space.
If your event is free for participants, we understand that you can’t be expected to pay a hire fee. Instead we just ask for a small donation for the entire year (tax deductable)! This token amount makes you a contributing member of the Foundation and eligible to book the space.
SUBMIT YOUR IDEAWe believe in the power of collaboration so every person who hosts an event at the LBH joins our ‘Tribe’. This is a network of community hosts where you will meet socially and have access to training and support. We have noticed that hosts who participate in the Tribe activities have the most successful events (greater participation numbers, positive feedback and reduction in loneliness).
New hosts should bring enthusiasm and a willingness to engage with the Tribe and their community.
