SUMMARY:Shut Up and Write!
DESCRIPTION:Got a project you keep meaning to write? This is your excuse to actually sit down and do it. \n\n\n\nAbout the EventShut Up and Write! at Little BIG House is a quiet writing session — not a workshop\, not a critique group\, just a room full of people quietly getting words on the page. The session opens with brief introductions so you know who’s around you\, then settles into focused\, silent writing time\, before wrapping up with a relaxed check-in on how everyone’s session went. There’s no pressure to share your work and no feedback on the table — just dedicated time and a bit of shared momentum to help you actually write. \n\n\n\nWho Should AttendAnyone with a writing project sitting half-finished — a novel\, a thesis\, a blog\, a diary\, a screenplay\, or something you haven’t named yet. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just starting out\, this is a low-pressure way to build a regular writing habit alongside other people doing the same thing. \n\n\n\nWhat’s the CostFree. SUMMARY:The Side Quest Society
DESCRIPTION:About the Event \n\n\n\nThe Side Quest Society is a weekly drop-in space at Little BIG House\, Flour Mill of Summer Hill\, where 12–18 year-olds get a room to just be themselves — no pressure\, no phones\, no performance. Every Tuesday from 4:30–5:45pm\, teens dive into a different activity: improv\, teambuilding games\, guest speakers\, trivia\, board and card nights. It’s one of those Inner West events built on a simple idea that confidence isn’t taught\, it’s built by trying slightly brave things somewhere safe to get it wrong. Run by educator Kevin Chu\, who spent over a decade working with young people as a teacher\, mentor and camp facilitator\, this is the room he wished he’d had as a teenager himself. \n\n\n\nWho Should Attend \n\n\n\nAny teen aged 12–18 who wants a genuine sense of belonging\, whether they’re naturally social or find big groups tricky. It’s especially good for kids looking to make friends outside their usual school circle\, without the weight of old reputations following them into the room. No experience\, confidence\, or friend group required\, just a willingness to show up. \n\n\n\nWhat’s the Cost \n\n\n\nSessions are $25 each\, or bundled across 8 weeks for a better rate (reach out to Kevin for details). No ongoing commitment needed; come whenever it suits your family’s weekend or weeknight rhythm. \n\n\n\nAbout the Host \n\n\n\nKevin Chu has spent 10+ years building programs where young people can find social connection and grow their confidence — one board game\, icebreaker and honest conversation at a time. \n\n\n\nAbout the Venue \n\n\n\nLittle BIG House sits inside the Flour Mill of Summer Hill\, Inner West Sydney — a community hub known for shared workspaces\, the Flour Mill Markets\, and a steady calendar of free events and community programs for locals of all ages. \n\n\n\nSpots are limited each week — book below and give your teen a reason to look forward to Tuesdays. 🎲

SUMMARY:The Firepit
DESCRIPTION:About the Event \n\n\n\nThe Firepit is a small\, committed group for 12–18 year-olds who show up each week at Little BIG House\, Flour Mill of Summer Hill\, to work on the stuff that rarely gets taught in school — their relationship with money\, quieting the inner critic\, figuring out who they want to be\, and how to communicate better. It’s not a class and it’s not therapy; it’s a room where teens talk as equals with others on a similar journey. Every session follows the same rhythm: a quick check-in on the past week’s wins\, a deep dive into that week’s theme through conversation and activity\, and a personal task to carry into the week ahead. \n\n\n\nWho Should Attend \n\n\n\nThis is for teens aged 12–18 who are ready to take a real step forward\, not just fill a seat. The Firepit is application-only\, and intentionally kept small — trust is the whole point\, and it’s built by keeping the group tight\, consistent and genuinely safe to be honest in. It suits teens who want more than a casual hangout\, and who are ready to commit to the full 8-week block. \n\n\n\nWhat’s the Cost \n\n\n\n$320 for the 8-week block. It’s also available as part of an all-inclusive bundle alongside The Side Quest Society (and Lock In) — reach out to Kevin for details if your teen’s keen on more than one program. \n\n\n\nAbout the Host \n\n\n\nKevin Chu has spent over 10 years working with young people as a teacher\, mentor\, camp facilitator and workshop host\, building spaces where teens can grow their confidence and sense of self. \n\n\n\nAbout the Venue \n\n\n\nLittle BIG House sits inside the Flour Mill of Summer Hill\, Inner West Sydney — a community hub known for shared workspaces\, the Flour Mill Markets\, and a steady calendar of community programs for locals of all ages. \n\n\n\nReady for your teen to take that next step? Applications are open — apply below and we’ll be in touch about joining the group.

SUMMARY:Come As You Art: Community Art Therapy & Connection Monthly Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Join Come As You Art for a welcoming art therapy workshop at Little BIG House (Summer Hill)\, facilitated by trauma-informed Art Therapist Emma Fitzgerald. \n\n\n\nThese workshops will run monthly on the third week of each month throughout the year\, creating a gentle\, consistent space where people can connect\, create\, and simply exist – exploring and expressing whatever feels present in a supportive environment. Tickets will be offered at an accessible rate to help keep the space open to the community. \n\n\n\nEach session includes: \n\n\n\n• A short introduction to art therapy and group check-in• One hour or more of open\, process-based artmaking using diverse materials• Optional sharing and reflection time• Light refreshments provided \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArrival & Timing\n\n\n\nPlease arrive from 5:45pm onwards to allow time to settle in. \n\n\n\nTo help maintain a safe\, contained and confidential therapeutic environment\, doors will close at 6:15pm sharp and no entries will be permitted after this time. \n\n\n\nArriving on time is essential\, as late arrivals can disrupt the group process and sense of safety for participants. Thank you for your understanding and care for the space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccess to the Venue\n\n\n\nWe will be entering via the wheelchair access side of the building at Little BIG House. However\, the workshop space is located on the first floor\, which requires taking a set of stairs to reach the room. \n\n\n\nDue to other events occurring in the building at the same time\, we are unable to relocate to a ground-floor space. As the building is heritage-listed\, a lift has not been able to be installed. Unfortunately\, this means wheelchair access to the workshop space is not possible at this time. \n\n\n\nWe understand this may be limiting and truly appreciate your understanding. Please keep this in mind when registering\, and feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss any access questions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConsent\n\n\n\nParticipants will be asked to sign a brief consent form before the start of each workshop as they enter the space. \n\n\n\nSuitable for adults (18+) – all are welcome. Please advise of any access or sensory needs during registration. \n\n\n\nWe hope this can become a calm monthly ritual – a place to pause\, explore creativity\, and feel part of a gentle shared experience.

SUMMARY:Summer Hill Safe Space
DESCRIPTION:About the event \n\n\n\nSafe Space is a compassionate\, non-clinical drop-in space for anyone feeling low\, lonely\, distressed\, or overwhelmed. Held every Friday from 6–9 pm at the Little BIG House\, Summer Hill\, this peer-led space offers care\, connection\, and presence — without pressure\, judgement\, or the need to have the “right words”. \n\n\n\nDesigned to support emotional wellbeing and mental health\, Summer Hill Safe Space provides a calm and welcoming environment where guests can sit\, talk\, or simply be. Volunteers with lived experience are there to listen with empathy\, offer gentle support\, and\, if appropriate\, assist with safety planning or warm referrals to other services. \n\n\n\nWho should attend \n\n\n\nThis space is for adults who may be experiencing loneliness\, mental distress\, suicidal thoughts\, or simply need human connection. You don’t need a diagnosis or referral — just come as you are. If you’re wondering how to stop being lonely\, how to meet new people\, or need a safe place to land\, this space is for you. \n\n\n\nWhat’s the cost \n\n\n\nFree. This is a community-supported service\, ensuring access for anyone who needs it. \n\n\n\nAbout the host \n\n\n\nSafe Space is peer-led and lived-experience driven\, supported by Roses in the Ocean\, a national leader in peer-led suicide prevention. Volunteers are trained to hold space with compassion\, respect\, and care. \n\n\n\nAbout the venue \n\n\n\nThe Little BIG House at the Summer Hill Flour Mill is a welcoming neighbourhood hub known for community programs\, shared workspaces\, and events that foster connected communities.
