Sew for JOY! – Introduction to Sewing

About the Event

Get ready to stitch, create, and connect! Sew for JOY! is a welcoming, hands-on sewing class designed to spark creativity while building social connections and emotional well-being. Whether you’re a complete beginner or just need a refresher, this community support program offers a safe, inclusive, and accessible space to learn and grow. Set in the heart of Inner West Sydney at the Flour Mill of Summer Hill, these small, relaxed classes focus on skill-sharing, making friends, and forming a sense of belonging.

You’ll learn:

  • How to thread and use a sewing machine

  • Master basic stitches and tension

  • Solve common sewing hiccups

  • Gather techniques and attach fabrics

  • Bring your own machine or use one of ours—all tools, fabrics, and resources provided!

With tea, coffee, and good company, it’s more than just sewing—it’s about building relationships, meeting new people, and overcoming loneliness in a vibrant, supportive environment.
